Jesse's first sleepover at just 10 days old!

The bags were packed, the car was filled to the brim with baby gear (were we really just going for 1 night?), Jesse was bathed and looking squeaky clean (Jonno's amazing water skills obviously overflow to bathing babies), the dog was extremely hypoactive (obviously sensed the impending holiday) and then we were off to visit Nanny Michelle (Jonno's birth mother) and Grandpa Steve.

Michelle & Steve live on a waterway in Pauanui (about 1.5 hrs from B&J's house) and have a magnificent house and lots of very expensive toys - boats, kayaks, paddle surfboards etc etc. Jesse is going to have such fun there when he is older. We sat on the deck in the sunshine, we went on the boat and motored around the waterways and then out to the ocean (the surf was too big so we turned back), we had a delicious dinner sitting in the side patio with an amazing fire burning in the very impressive fireplace and we enjoyed a wonderful evening with great music, food and exceptional company and watched the big boys enjoy their liquid sustenance. After Blake & I (& Jesse) retired for the evening we heard some very large explosions - the boys were setting off fireworks in the front yard. They had such a fun evening - evidenced by their slow and quiet behaviour the following morning - can't imagine why they were drinking so much water for breakfast! Michelle & Steve's dog Benson (a Jack Russell) and Blake's dog Power (a Spoodle) also had a great time enjoying a ride on the boat and the surfboards.
