San Antonio Half Marathon Nov 09

I participated in my very first ½ marathon this time last year – how quickly that time has passed. I have since completed 2 more ½ marathons and a full marathon – who would have ever thought!! Medal count = 4 !!!!!

Last weekend we again took part in the San Antonio Rock N Roll Half Marathon and the best news is – I crossed the finish line!! It was a challenging course this year – I think perhaps it was the heat which certainly wasn’t expected and I certainly didn’t reach the time I intended however it was a good practice event for the full marathon coming up in January.

We had a wonderful weekend in San Antonio. Our friend Nancy came with us – not to participate in the race but to visit with her parents who live there. We were able to spend some time with them on Sunday before our trip back to Houston. Alan & Marilyn are a lovely couple and we thank them for their wonderful hospitality.

Monday was our 35^th wedding anniversary (what an amazing 35 years!) and we got to quickly say “Happy Anniversary” to each other at 5am ‘cos John left for another hitch in Alaska at 5.30am! It was a really nice day as I spoke to John several times on the phone and also received good wishes from Josh and a lovely vase of flowers from Blake & Jonno.
