We attended our very first American wedding and enjoyed every minute and are so happy to have been a part of the celebration. It was just fabulous. The bride & groom, their parents, the 20 bridesmaids and groomsmen (yes 20!!) were all just sparkling, stunning, beautiful – there are not enough adjectives to describe how radiant everybody looked!
Everything was perfect – the church, the reception venue, the food (just loved all that fresh fruit and delicious salad), the music, the whole ambience was just so ‘wedding’ – you could feel the love in the air!!
You may remember from an earlier blog entry that Russell got down on his knee and proposed to Joanna when she reached mile 21 of her very first marathon back in January. Well marriage is certainly another marathon they are entering into only this one is much longer than 26miles – it’s for a lifetime (I actually stole that from the Minister – thought it was rather good). They are just the loveliest couple and we certainly wish them a very happy life together.
Joanna’s parents, Donna & Hugh, have become very good friends – in fact we’ve decided that we’ve been living in a parallel universe as they have been married for 34 years (same as us), they have two children, a boy and a girl (same as us), both children are similar ages to our own, John & Hugh actually met walking a marathon together and now Donna & I also walk with them. Can you believe that Joanna’s wedding was held on our son, Josh’s birthday – coincidental? No we think it’s that parallel universe connection at work again!
It was a mammoth day and it sure is true - everything is bigger in Texas!
