Corpus Christi

We are currently in Corpus Christi (16-19th June) where John, John W., Cheryl & Paul are delivering a workshop.

We drove here via Galveston and then followed the coast around to Corpus - a very interesting route as we passed through many small towns and saw so much more than what one sees on the many freeways criss-crossing Texas.

Liz (EDN's Office Manager) asked if we would check out the Aquarium and we did - lots of hands on touching and close up viewing of all the marine critters - so a great experience (although I have similar thoughts about Aquariums as I do of Zoos - so glad I've seen but certainly won't be rushing back).

Last night we had a picnic tea on the beach on Padre Island. The sunset was behind us and absolutely magnificent - so many pinks and oranges turning the absolutely flat horizon into an artists dream I'm sure. Looking in front of us over the ocean, the moon was in full view and looked amazing in the pink sky. A photographer's dream - if only we had remembered to bring the camera !!!!!!! We walked along the beach and were amazed at how warm the water was and also at the variety of shells, seaweeds, jellyfish and crabs that adorned the shoreline.

Before our awesome picnic we drove about 45 miles west to a small town called Alice (sounds like a movie eh!). John has some business contacts there and wanted to check it out. The drive there was flat, very flat! As far as your eye could see there wasn't a bump in the landscape, no landmarks anywhere - it was quite eerie driving in a straight line for 3/4 hrs with absolutely nothing but cornfields wherever you looked.......

Later today to are visiting Mustang Island and Port Aransas so stay tuned......

Left to drive back to Houston a little later than expected so our trip across Mustang Island and Port Aransas was fairly brisk - however we saw enough to know that we would like to spend more time here and looks as though that will happen around mid July - so will be prepared with more time to explore on that trip.
