Not long after we arrived in Houston, John met Pat & Sam while doing the Houston marathon in January 07, and they have been kind enough to introduce us to a number of their friends here in Texas. A group of us have now been getting together for meals at each other's homes and last week Diane & George were our hosts at their beautiful home near Downtown. Candace & Bart were there and it was a very opportune time to farewell Bart who was returning for China for a 4 month work contract. We feel really happy having such wonderful 'local' friends who have all been so welcoming and friendly - we are now in our 2nd year here and are starting to feel like 'locals' as well - particularly as we can say ya'll so easily!
Recently we also enjoyed a great night out with Hugh & Donna celebrating the boys' wonderful efforts in the Houston Marathon. We have heaps in common with Hugh & Donna - they have also been married for 33 years and also have 2 children the same ages as our children. We were also invited to the home of Steve & Kathleen for an amazing meal prepared by Steve (what a man!) to also celebrate the great walk both Steve & John completed. Walking has certainly brought some wonderful friends our way.
