Brazos Bend State Park is an amazing park less than an hour south of Houston. There a lots of walking trails and definitely lots to see - including alligators! There are signs advising "alligator etiquette" which includes not getting too close and not to aggrevate them - no need to tell us twice! We had only walked a short distance when we saw a snake wrapped around some tall reeds in the creek not far from us - we took a quick photo and kept moving only to take a few more steps and see our first alligator sunning himself on the lake's shore. Apparently they are not aggressive like the crocodile. We saw quite a few during our afternoon walk in the park as well as an amazing variety of bird life. We even got to pat a baby alligator in the Nature Centre - it was a very memorable afternoon. They have camping facilities so one day we may park our RV there and spend a few days exploring the many trails.
